New Water Well Construction to Begin

After a pre-construction meeting on May 4, 2017, it was determined that construction of Water Well No. 4 will hopefully commence on or about July 1, 2017. Holly Water Wells, of the Huntsville area, will be drilling the new well for the District. Construction is expected to be completed within 90 days and TCEQ approval will take an additional 90 - 120 days after well completion.
Replacement Water Well

The District learned in May that it's best water quality water well had failed and that a new replacement water well would need to be drilled. Preliminary costs for the new well are estimated at approximately $770,000.
Water District to Hold Bond Election on Nov 8, 2016

The Fayette County WCID - Monument Hill will hold a bond approval election on Tuesday, November 8, 2016 in conjunction with the General Election. The District is seeking approval of a $1.720M bond issue to drill a new water well, make needed repairs to it's aging sewer infrastructure, purchase variable frequency drives for (4) booster pumps/motors and generators, as well as numerous other items.
Rate Review Being Conducted by Communities Unlimited

At the October 8, 2015 regular monthly meeting, the Fayette County WCID-Monument Hill Board of Directors voted unanimously to contract with Communities Unlimited, of Austin, TX, to have them perform a thorough rate review of both the District's water and waste water rates. The purpose of this review is to receive a professional opinion, from an unbiased, indepdendent third party, on what the District's water and waste water rates should be in order to be able to continue providing reliable services and handle needed system updates and repairs.
UPDATE: Mark Pearson, of Communities Unlimited, presented to the Board of Directors his rate review study at the February 11, 2016 regular Board meeting. As a result of his findings, the Board voted unanimously to increase both water and sewer rates at a special meeting held on February 22, 2016.

Needed Building Repairs at Water Plants in Progress

In October 2014, the Board of Directors voted unanimously to contract with Roger Rowland Construction, LLC to make some much needed repairs to the aging buildings located at both Plant #1 and #2. Repairs to the building housing the booster pumps at Plant #1 was begun in February and completed in mid-March for an estimated cost of $3,600 (labor and materials). Repairs to the control and chlorine building at Plant #1 are scheduled to begin sometime in October 2015 at an estimated cost of $4,000 (labor and materials). The booster pump building repairs at Plant #2 should begin sometime in early Winter 2015.
Updating of Water & Waste Water System Maps

At the regular Board of Directors meeting in November, the Board voted unanimously to have BEFCO Engineering update its existing water and waste water system maps for the entire District. The maps were last updated in 1987 and are seriously out of date. The anticipated cost for these new maps is expected not to exceed $15,000 and to be completed in 2015.
